Green Screen Practise

As you are awake from previous posts, a large proportion of our music video will be filmed using a green screen background which enables us to use a range of background colours, pictures or moving images; this helps us match the shots to are planned theme which is related to our song choice and its lyrics. In the video you can see a grey background which Eloise is sat in front of - not only this but the movement Eloise is making is important as this will be included in our final music video, so this practise shot allowed us to both view the motion of Eloise shaking her hair side to side (which is a video slowed down) along with using the green screen for the first time.

We used premiere pro to edit the clip and change the background to the grey, which can be seen below. I previously had to watch a couple of YouTube videos and also use some sites on Google to educate myself on how to use the tools on Premiere Pro. I have linked below one of the clips that I used to ensure the creator gets credit for their work*. I used both written forms of instructions, along with the videos on YouTube as that is the most convenient way for me to learn and leaves little room for mistakes.

What Went Well: After this, we were ensured we definitely wanted to use the hair flicking motion in our final music video as it portrays the artist as self loving and confident which is what we need as she has previously been abandoned and heart broken in the start of the music video and by including shots similar to this one (mid shot) of the artists face and body with a straight face, it portrays the assertiveness characteristic we are looking for.

Improvements: By doing the practise shot before filming and editing the final piece it allowed us to spot any mistakes which we can learn from and improve on next time to ensure we don't waste any time. This includes ensuring we use the green screen against a blank wall - in the practise shot we put the green screen in front of computers which reflected unwanted light back onto the screen and effected the colour when we changed it to grey. As well as this, we also know not to wear chunky pieces of jewellery around the neck which have any light reflecting materials in as this also impacted the clip and distorted the image of Eloise as she has specs of glitter shining across her in various places.
Not related to the green screen or the shots, I have also found we need to find a more convenient and ideal way to export the clips once we have edited them together. We want the music video to look the best quality possible to project a good standard of work and at the moment the clips are exporting rather pixelated which makes the work look more amateur.
